There's a reason that Mississippi John Hurt's music is referred to as "gentle perfection."
His was the kind of hill country Mississippi music that was not exactly blues and not quite country.
It was, in fact, something much older, and its charm carries on to this day.
John Hurt's incredibly warm personality was a perfect match for his beautiful music, so much so in fact, that it would be unimaginable to hear it from another man.
